Do your projects bring you joy?

Ok, raise your hand if you’ve stayed up til 2 am watching Marie Kondo on Netflix.  You’re not alone. If you’re like the rest of us here, you’ve literally just spent days binge watching the show (after work, of course) and are having dreams about emptying out your closet.  This show has left me wondering, though. How many of us Kon Mari our projects and our business?

Don’t worry.  We’re not going to ask you to give up any of your stuff.  We are going to ask you, though, to step back and simplify your project organization.  We are going to challenge you to spark some joy in your projects and tasks. Projects do not have to be chaotic, messy, and overwhelming.  They do, however, need to be organized the right way from the beginning. Rushing, skipping, or neglecting this step can stunt your progress and leave you and your team feeling overwhelmed or even behind.

“Clutter is caused by a failure to return things to where they belong. Therefore, storage should reduce the effort needed to put things away, not the effort needed to get them out.”
Marie Kondō, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing

This step is the hardest — learning how to “store’ your projects and doing it in a way that ensures that you’re going to keep doing it.  Every time.

We’ve got this.  Consider us your personalized project Marie Kondos.  Now, with every Emerging subscription, you’ll get individualized, set me up and go, project management consultations.  2 hours.  You name the time, the virtual place, and we’ll get you running from the start.
