Today we’re excited to announce Leantime 3.5.5, a release that puts community feedback front and center. While this update includes important technical improvements and plugin updates, the headline feature is what we’ve removed rather than what we’ve added.
Listening to Our Community
Over the past few months, we’ve received consistent feedback through Discord, Reddit, and email about the premium plugin promotions scattered throughout the Leantime interface. The message was clear: these promotional elements were creating a cluttered experience and giving the impression of “over-commercialization” in what should be a clean, focused work environment.
You were absolutely right.
A Cleaner, More Focused Interface
In Leantime 3.5.5, we’ve completely removed all premium plugin promotions from the main interface and consolidated them into a single, unobtrusive link in the user dropdown menu. This change means:
- Distraction-free workspace: Your project management interface is now focused entirely on your work
- Reduced visual clutter: No more promotional banners or upgrade prompts interrupting your flow
- Community-first experience: The open-source features you love take center stage
Technical Improvements Under the Hood
Beyond the interface cleanup, this release includes several important technical fixes:
Core Platform Updates:
- Fixed decimal formatting issues on report screens that were causing display problems
- Improved file handling with automatic management of invalid filenames to prevent upload errors
- Enhanced plugin marketplace integration with better URL handling for a smoother experience
Plugin Updates: We’ve also released updates for four key plugins to address bugs and improve performance:
- Notes Plugin: Bug fixes and stability improvements
- Program Management Pro: Performance optimizations and bug resolution
- Strategy Pro: Enhanced reliability and user experience fixes
- Sponsor Leantime Plugin: Updated for better integration
Sustainable Open Source is a Journey
Balancing sustainability with community values isn’t always straightforward. We’re committed to keeping Leantime’s core features free and open-source while finding respectful ways to fund continued development.
This release represents our commitment to listening, learning, and adapting based on your feedback. The promotional changes weren’t just about cleaning up the interface—they were about reinforcing that Leantime exists to serve its users, not the other way around.
What’s Next?
If Leantime adds value to your work and you’re able to support the project, we’re grateful for:
- GitHub Sponsorships that fund core feature development
- Plugin purchases that support advanced functionality
But more than anything, we’re grateful for a community that isn’t afraid to give honest feedback when something isn’t working. That’s what makes open-source software genuinely better.
